If the selected diameter of reducer is inconsistent with the inner diameter of process pipe, corresponding reducing or expanding treatment shall be carried out. If the pipe is contracted, whether the pressure loss caused by this will affect the process flow shall be considered. In order to prevent the distribution of velocity field and pressure loss caused by the installation of reducer, and then reduce the measurement accuracy of electromagnetic flowmeter, the required center cone angle α is not more than 15 °, the smaller the better.
Features of reducer:
1. When the flow rate of the fluid in the pipeline changes, such as increasing or decreasing, and the flow rate requirement changes little, reducer shall be used.
2. The inlet of the pump is to prevent cavitation.
3. In order to cooperate with the joint of instrument, such as flowmeter and regulating valve, reducer shall also be used.
There are two types of reducer: concentric reducer and eccentric reducer. The concentric reducer is generally used on the vertical pipe; the eccentric reducer is used on the horizontal pipe, and it should be noted to indicate whether the top is flat or the bottom is flat.
